no experience... no formal training... yet an aspiring photographer with an amateur camera.
Photos have impacted me in ways other forms of journalism have yet to effect me. A picture can move someone, can transport someone into that image, can explain something in one moment, when it's worth a thousand words.
My goal is to take a picture everyday of my life. Whether the picture is of something as mundane as my room, or something as exciting as a life-changing moment, a world-changing event, or a split-second when the world stands still. I hope that through this, I can learn through my experience and become a better photographer each day. I want to capture everything in my life that is important to me: my family, friends, traveling, fashion, school, work, people I run into randomly or everyday, etc. This is also going to be a test to myself, to see if I can be dedicated, committed and consistent with this blog... and see it through until the end. I don't care if one person sees this one time, or if a million people follow it everyday. I need to prove to myself that I can do this, whether the pictures are craptastic or worthy of a Pulitzer prize.
The pictures won't have a theme, except one: my life. The pictures will vary each day, depending on what mood I'm in, what sums up the day the best, or if I only took one picture. It will be random, portraying different things in my life that interest me, whether it's an outfit that I envy, or if it's pure joy, sadness or ecstasy on the face of a stranger.
This project will force me to leave this comfortable bubble my life has made; contributed by suburbia, a university campus, and - let's face it - ignorance. Through this project, I hope to become cultured, aware and knowledgeable.
And so this journey begins.
Join me.
